Research groups and related initiatives
- Project Production Systems Laboratory (P2SL) at the University of California, Berkeley, USAThe Project Production Systems Laboratory (P2SL) at UC Berkeley is a research institute dedicated to developing and deploying knowledge and tools for project management.
- Innovative Design Lab the University of Huddersfield, UKThe lab conducts theory based and applied research generally into product design, and especially in the built environment, pushing the impact of design thinking and practice to new areas. It cuts across the areas of architectural design, construction management, interior design, new product development, engineering, social sciences and healthcare.
- Centre for Lean Projects Nottingham Trent University, UKThe research area of lean thinking in construction is investigated by the School of Architecture, Design and the Built Environment at Nottingham Trent University. The set of projects is carried out by members of the research group, who are looking on different aspects of Lean theory as applied to the construction industry.

Professional organizations and non-academic initiatives
- Lean Construction InstituteLean Construction Institute (LCI) is a non-profit organization, founded in 1997. The Institute operates as a catalyst to transform the industry through lean project delivery using an operating system centered on a common language, fundamental principles, and basic practices
- Constructing ExcellenceConstructing Excellence is the single organisation charged with driving the change agenda in construction in the UK
- The Lean Construction BlogThe Lean Construction Blog is a nonprofit, educational blog with a mission to advance and promote Lean Construction around the world.
- Lean Construction Australia New Zealand LimitedLean Construction Australia New Zealand Limited (Lean Construction ANZ) is established as a not for profit organisation in 2019, with the purpose of advancing the knowledge, capability and application of Lean Construction across the Building, Construction and Engineering industries, education providers, peak bodies, and government in pursuit of increased value delivery, resource utilisation, reliability and safety.
- Lean Design and Construction CanadaLean Design and Construction Canada is a nonprofit promoting Lean Construction across the Canadian construction industry
Journals
- Lean Construction JournalPublished by the Lean Construction Institute since 2003, the Lean Construction Journal (LCJ) is an international refereed journal devoted to Lean Construction practice and research.
Resources for learning and teaching Lean Construction

Games and simulations
- Technion LEAPCON™ Management Simulation GameThe Technion LEAPCON™ (Technion Lean Apartment Construction) game simulates construction of an eight story building with four apartments on each floor. It was initially developed to test the impact of a Lean management model that was proposed in response to the significant waste identified in the conventional approach to scheduling and managing construction of high-rise residential buildings. It was found to be an excellent tool for introducing project managers, site engineers, supervisors, senior management, and students at all levels to some of the basic concepts of lean construction: single-piece vs. batch flow, pull vs. push scheduling and control, and multi-skilling vs. task specialization.
